Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral

From 2019 - 2023 Whispered Tales worked with Liverpool's Metropolitan Cathedral Of Christ The King, to run a volunteer participation program to develop three new visitor attractions for this iconic place of worship. Funded by the Heritage Lottery, the grant enabled the Cathedral to involve over 140 volunteers which has resulted in five high quality visitor attractions.

“The three new visitor attractions have surpassed all our expectations. We were extremely impressed with the way the project was managed, and have  received wonderful feedback from volunteers and our stakeholders involved"

The Lutyens Crypt Exhibition
Working with a group of dedicated volunteers on a three month intensive program, Whispered Tales researched the heritage of Edwin Lutyens Crypt. The result of this participation program is a permanent exhibition that details the fascinating story behind this extraordinary building.

The Audio Tour
Whispered Tales then delivered the second participation program to create three audio tours for the Cathedral visitors:

The guide book multi lingual audio tour leads visitors around the cathedral illustrating the main architectural features. The tour is available in Mandarin, Italian, Polish, Spanish and French)  .

The Cathedral Music audio tour is a more relaxed well being experience for the visitor and features a range of music from the Cathedrals choirs and music department.

The Memories of the Cathedral audio tour allows visitors to hear recollections of iconic moments in the Cathedrals heritage from the opening ceremony to the papal visit.

The Smart Phone Family Tour
Whispered Tales then delivered a final participation program with children and families which resulted in a self-guided family trail. Explore With Eva takes the format of a treasure hunt and allows families the chance to  work together to seek out awe-inspiring artworks. During the tour the families will discover hidden cathedral stories stories whilst sharing fascinating fun facts along the way. The family tour is accessed on a smart phone and is a fun educational family activity that lasts 30 minutes.
