The Twisted Tales Series is a partnership with Open Theatre Company and Birmingham Hippodrome that supports learning disabled artists. Esther Simpson is the Artistic Director of Twisted Tales, working with the artists to devise and direct a family theatre show based on a classic fairy tale. In 2020 The Twisted Tale of Hansel and Gretel premiered at Birmingham Hippodrome and went on a national tour to: Hull Truck, Arts Depot, Cambridge Junction , Belgrade Theatre, Nottingham Playhouse, Z Arts, Lincoln Drill Hall, Richard Attenborough Centre, Swan Theatre, and The Gulbenkian Theatre. Unfortunately the tour was cancelled a third of its way through the tour due to Coviod-19.
During the Covid Lockdowns of 2020 we worked with Open Theatre to create a series of three animations based around the Red Riding Hood story. The cast recorded the dialogue remotley with illustrations by Tom Cleaver and animations my Ricardo Vega. You can watch the videos below :
